The 40mm Caramel Bamboo Board is 5 ply and the thickest board in our range. Made from 100% bamboo, this product is popular with sustainable kitchen companies and carpenters for making furniture and shelving.
A highlight for the 40mm Bamboo Board was being selected by EcoSystems Tech to feature in a sustainable modular house installation at the global climate change conference, COP26.
The board was also selected by the University of Liverpool’s School of Architecture to replace MDF in the department – in line with the university’s commitment to sustainability.

UK Bamboo Supplies Ltd have had an FSC audit conducted and are currently waiting for official FSC certification on the following bamboo plyboards: 19mm (side-pressed), 19mm (plain-pressed), 30mm, 40mm (5-ply).
Till official certification is given, we cannot sell the boards as FSC-certified with a full chain of custody document – but watch this space!
How the bamboo is laid out prior to pressing. Different arrangements give a different board face.
Plain-pressed
Imagine a ruler laid flat on a table. This is our bamboo slat. Lay multiple bamboo slats next to each other and subject to a pressing machine. Hey presto, you have Plain-Pressed! This results in the individual bamboo slat and node details being clearly visible. A ‘plainer’ look, compared to the side-pressed.
Side-pressed
Using the same ruler analogy, imagine all the slats on their side. The bamboo is then pressed to create a more detailed face to the bamboo plyboard.
The debate of side-pressed vs plain-pressed bamboo board ultimately comes down to personal preference on the look of the board.
The standard sheet we sell is 8ft x 4ft.
We also sell A4, A2, and 4ft x 4ft sizes as standard sizes.

With minimum order quantities in place, we bundle the bamboo poles to offer the best degree of protection in transit.
Delivery
1 – 3 working days.
- All orders are shipped with next day courier service; however, we advise 1 – 3 working days to account for any potential delays that are out of our control such as adverse weather.
- You will receive a notification when the goods have left UK Bamboo Supplies, and another notification when your order is out for delivery.
- Unfortunately, time slots cannot be given by the national couriers.
- Delivery of all items is to doorstep only. Courier service is often a single driver, so they may require assistance with unloading large or heavy items. We request that you bear this in mind when ordering.
