Hand Carved Bamboo Root Figurine

This classic Chinese Buddha is hand carved from the bamboo root. The statue has the characteristic laughing smile of this traditional Chinese Buddhist figure, as well as the enlarged or elongated ear-lobes. He has a full face and somewhat portly body. This Buddha or ‘Budai’ represents happiness, prosperity and fortune. He is the protector of the poor and the weak.

This Chinese figure which would sit well on an occasional or console table as well as a centrepiece on the sideboard. Use this bamboo root Buddha in the garden as part of a feature for a Bonsai display or incorporate into a larger garden design as a point of interest.

Tips for installing outside: To keep the colour, detail and finish of this carving when using outside we recommend the use of a clear wood preservative. Varnish or wood stain can be used in the future to further enhance and preserve the bamboo.
