The Challenge

Genesis already had a wealth of experience with bamboo, but their clients demanded more. With a range of interior projects for corporate settings in the pipeline, Genesis Surfaces required additional bamboo stock and so approached UK Bamboo Supplies.

The Solution

By offering one of the widest ranges of bamboo boards on the UK market (7mm – 40mm), UK Bamboo were able to meet Genesis Surfaces’ requirements through the regular supply of 12mm, 19/20mm, & 30mm caramel full size (8ft x 4ft) bamboo boards.

Believing in bamboo’s potential and inspired by the material’s versatility, Genesis Surfaces now lists UK Bamboo Supplies as a strategic partner. Among a whole suite of materials (such as Oak and Walnut), bamboo is now one of Genesis’ core base materials for the bespoke panels.

The above is of a recent installation of the Sculptura Wall Panel by Genesis at The Author – a luxury residential building in Kings Cross, London for Argent Related.

The original panel design was conceived by Conran & Partners and was designed to be a series of double-height multifaceted, multiscaled fluted panels with sequentially flowing lines throughout. In various sections, the integral curved sections are delineated with feature inserts of solid surface material.

Genesis Surfaces carved the panels from single sheets of bamboo ply to reveal the inner core and texture. After processing,  a custom tone and a warm walnut colour finish was applied. Corian solid surface material was also hand crafted to insert on the curved sections for detail and contrast.
